VA Dental Preventive Services (No Waiting Periods) 100% In-Network Coverage.

  • Routine oral examinations (limit two per year per a family member)
  • Periodontal examinations (limit two per year per a family member)
  • Bitewing X-rays (limit one set per year per a member, excludes full mouth)
  • Cleanings (limit two per year per a member)
  • Topical fluoride treatment (limit one per year per a member, age 14 and under)
  • Sealants (limit of one per tooth per lifetime per a member, age 14 and under)

VA Basic Dental Services (6 month waiting period) 50% In-Network Coverage.

($50 deductible applies per a member or $150 max deductible for a family)

  • Emergency care for pain relief
  • Extractions and root removal
  • Fillings (limit two per year per a member, composite on front teeth only :Composite (white) fillings are only covered on anterior (front) teeth. An alternate benefit is allowed for composite fillings on posterior (back) teeth where the plan will cover the cost of an amalgam (silver) filling and the member is responsible for any cost over the covered amount.
  •  Space maintainers (age 14 and under, initial placement only)
  • Oral surgery
  • Prefabricated stainless steel crowns

Receive a discount on these services if you see participating dentists. Out-of-pocket expenses do not apply to deductible and annual maximum. You’re responsible for 100% of the discounted service.

    • For the MetLife Federal dental plan.. the high opotin has a $ 3,000 calendar year benefit, standard is $ 1,200. There is no deductible when staying in-network, and the percentages are.. For preventive or class A both plans offer 100% coverage. For basic dental work, or class B.. high opotin you pay 30%, standard is 45%. And for major services or class C.. high you pay 50%, standard is 65%. These are all based on the in-network discounted rates. You also have out-of-network coverage.. but at higher percentages. I’d check with your benefits rep, for any detailed or exact information

  1. lol, I had mine root canal in late november .the crown in first week of jan 2011 ovraell I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure, even though I was scared before the procedure
